This independent figure drawing class allows students to work from a live model in a variety of artistic mediums. Easels, chairs, and custom lighting provided. Artists need to bring drawing materials and board.

From January 15 – March 20, The Fabric of a People: African-American Art, Experiences & Contributions, a fabric arts exhibit emphasizing Gullah culture and African-American history will be displayed in Learning Lab I of the E. Craig Wall, Jr. Lowcountry Center Complex. Curated by Zelda Grant of Awendaw, SC—fabric artist, author, and visionary—the exhibit will include six main portals and is free with garden admission.

This five-week class is a continuation of the painting methods established in the Introduction to Figurative Oil Painting course, but with a punch! In addition to advanced poses including more than one model, artists will learn to combine media and paint the figure in an environment. This course is intended to challenge and broaden the talents of the artists.

This South Carolina State Museum Traveling Exhibition features computer generated mathematical “objects” depicting geometric shapes with symmetry of scale, infinite structure and complexity. Designs mimic naturally occurring patterns on 32 large colorful panels.

Bill Mead, native to Beaufort, has a love affair with food and his paintings cross the lines between Realism and Surrealism in a witty way. Mead has been showing with SCOOP studios since the beginning, March 2009, and he continues to surprise even the gallery owners. "We are always wondering what Bill is going to send us and we love it every time" says Colleen Deihl, co-owner of the gallery.

This four-week class, taught by a brother/sister duo, will touch on the softer side of sculpture. Students will learn basic craft and sewing techniques to create 3-D pieces. This class aims to show people how common materials and practices can be used in sculptural pursuits. Expect to see cuteness in three dimensions. No experience necessary! Materials included!
