Alex Radin grew up in NY on Long Island and has always enjoyed the act of creating. He graduated with a BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio.
Alex doesn’t like placing his work in a box or a style and will tell you when asked about his approach to painting, “True art is born out of passion. I am interested less in technique and more in what is communicated, what a person feels, learns, and really sees, when they encounter a work of art. With all that said I tend to like abstracting reality to communicate the spiritual significance of my observations of the tangible world based on my experiences. I like to take some time and detach from my subject matter and really get lost in the design and break up of shapes and space. I am intensely interested in the conversation that colors have with one another as well as communication between strokes; Relationships between color and color, color and strokes, strokes and shapes, strokes and strokes, shapes and color, shapes and shapes... Even though I get lost in all of this, I always return to my subject matter in the end.
Alex, his wife Sara, and their two daughters live in Hanahan SC. He moved to the Charleston, SC area in 2001 and continued creating fine art, as well as painting special commissions, and doing illustrations for books and magazines. His work has shown in both solo and group exhibitions in Ohio, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, and Texas at venues ranging from the Charlotte Institute of Art to galleries and alternative spaces, as well as at the Columbia Museum of Art. He has traveled nationally encouraging and training artists, and he has guest lectured at schools such as the Charlotte Institute of Art as well as taught several art courses locally. His work has been published in many forms of media including books, editorial publications, and on the cover of cd’s. To view some of his work visit his website www.truthillustrations.com.
