Featured artist for the 2000 Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, TATE NATION began his professional art career as a freelance illustrator, creating artwork for publishers, advertising agencies, and corporate clients nationwide, illustrating ten children’s books along the way. Tate was recently selected to serve as Illustrator-in-Residence at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, SC. In addition to awards for his illustrations and non-traditional, multi-layered acrylic paintings, his works, noticeably influenced by Caribbean art, have appeared in numerous national publications.
