I have an almost insatiable appetite for bright, vivid colors and bold lines. My work has evolved over the years from photo-realistic drawings to more free flowing, abstract paintings reflecting my expansion of boundaries and tolerances as I have matured. I find that abstract art allows both me and the viewer to maximize the imagination and fully immerse in the work.
My creative process is very intuitive, at times visceral, as I rarely have a 'plan' when I start a new piece but often just choose a starting color and enjoy the feel of the buttery paint flowing across the canvas and seeing where it leads. My art doesn't come from a place of needing to make a statement or trying to conform to anyone's rules about what is good or bad, but simply my heart, soul, imagination and willingness to explore [and share] my inner landscape.
An artist since early childhood, I have always seemed to possess a natural sense of design and color. As a young girl growing up in North Carolina I was never bored but could always be found ‘making stuff’ out of whatever materials I could find. Primarily self-taught, I enjoy exploring many media including painting, photography, drawing [particularly colored pencil!], block printing, batik, weaving and mixed media.
